There are different versions of the Sentricon system still available.
It is pet friendly in all versions as the bait product, when present, only affects things that molt as they grow. Dogs do not molt, and therefore have very little risk due to exposure by contact or even consumption by accident.
Personally, we use the 'Always Active' version of the product. It has the bait material present at all times. This removes a margin of human error in servicing. While it only requires service once a year, many companies may service it more frequently depending on the location of the home and any previous treatment or construction issues.
