AIM: Weiner Who? Pelosi Ignores Scandal to Criticize GOP About Jobs

From Accuracy in Media?s Don Irvine:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi dashed the hopes of the cable news networks yesterday when during her weekly press conference she chose to focus on attacking the Republicans for not creating any jobs and refused to talk about the impending resignation of fellow Democrat Anthony Weiner from Congress.

The cable news networks had hyped her press conference thinking that she would talk about the breaking news that Weiner would announce his resignation at an afternoon press conference. They even cut away from their regular programming to cover her presser.

Once they realized they had guessed wrong, or maybe had even been duped into thinking that she would address the Weiner issue, they quickly returned to the news.

Pelosi did issue this statement later in the day about Weiner:

?Today, with the love of his family, the confidence of his constituents and the recognition of his need for help, Congressman Weiner has announced that he will resign from Congress.

?Congressman Weiner exercised poor judgment in his actions and poor judgment in his reaction to the revelations.? Today, he made the right judgment in resigning.

?I pray for him and his family and wish them well.?

The Weiner scandal was a thorn in the side of the Democrats and dominated the news when they wanted to talk about the Republicans Medicare proposal and other issues on which they thought the GOP was vulnerable.

But Pelosi is on shaky ground when blasting the GOP on the jobs issue. After all it was she and the Democrats who firmly controlled Congress for the first two years of the Obama presidency and spent most of their time naming post offices, rewarding their political allies and passing job killing legislation like Obamacare.

We know where the real blame lies and it isn?t with the Republicans.
