A reality for both women and men, the victims of domestic violence include not just the parties involved but also any children who might be part of such relationships. Millions are affected by domestic violence, and a recent exhibit which opened in Michigan teaches young adults how to recognize warning signs. This interactive exhibit aims at participation where a person can see a fictional case from start to finish. He or she will learn how the courts are involved and what types of help is available.

Domestic violence doesn't just start with the parents; for many young adults, it starts in their teens or even at a younger age. This Michigan exhibit located at the Supreme Court Learning Center hopes to teach about how to spot domestic violence and also to show young adults that there is help available. Most importantly, this exhibit could potentially help break a cycle of abuse. Participants can learn how to recognize abusive traits in their partners.

Participants will have access to tips on how to help someone who has admitted to being in an abusive relationship. Victims of dating abuse may benefit from understanding that this act of violence is not their fault. Michigan residents are encouraged to speak up about domestic assaults. In addition, viewers of the exhibit will be given direct access to the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

For those adults and children who have become victims of domestic violence, there are several potential avenues of help to pursue. Another step may include filing for divorce, though each person will have to make that difficult decision based upon the specific facts of their own situation.
