Apple?s New Budget iPhone Called the iPhone 5C?

Apple 5C

Everybody is wondering what the Apple will name its new, lower cost, iPhone. ?I call it the iBudget in jest, but we all know Apple would NEVER associate the word budget, cheap, or economy with any of their products. ?The website?WeiPhone.com, released a picture with a bin of, what can only be described, as some sort of packaging with the name iPhone 5C.

iPhone 5C

We have heard the name iPhone Lite thrown around, but that?contentation may not suit Apple?s image either. ?Another site, iLounge.com, had predicted it would be called the iPhone 5C, although why Apple would chose the letter ?C? I am not sure?it could mean ?C?olor,? low ?C?ost,? plasti?C,? or ?C?heap!

We expect Apple to make an announcement, for both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, in late Summer, followed by a September release date. ?Let us know in the comments if you are waiting for either of these two new Apple iPhones.

Israeli and Palestinian Teams Prepare to Relaunch Previously-Failed Peace Talks ? But Will It Work This Time?

JERUSALEM (TheBlaze/AP) -- Israeli and Palestinian teams flew to Washington on Monday to end five years of diplomatic stalemate and prepare for a new round of Mideast peace talks, though optimism was in short supply after two decades of failed attempts to reach a deal.

The resumption of talks was made possible by a decision by Israel's Cabinet on Sunday to free 104 long-held Palestinian prisoners in four stages, linked to progress in talks (read more about this development). The release was part of an agreement brokered early this month by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to bring the sides back to the negotiating table.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has been reluctant to negotiate with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, fearing the hard-line Israeli leader will reject what the Palestinians consider minimal territorial demands.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry shuttled between Israeli and Palestinian leaders for months seeking a breakthrough and announced last week that the Palestinians and the Israelis were willing to meet to discuss renewing talks. The Palestinians want a state in the West Bank, Gaza and east Jerusalem, territories Israel captured in 1967, but have accepted the principle of limited land swaps to allow Israel to annex some of the dozens of settlements it has built on war-won lands.

Abbas had repeatedly said he will only go to talks if Israel either freezes settlement building or recognizes the 1967 lines as a starting point for drawing the border of a state of Palestine.

Palestinian officials reiterated Monday that they received U.S. assurances that Washington considers the 1967 lines the basis for border talks.

However, a senior Abbas aide acknowledged that Israel has not signed on to that principle. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the issue with reporters.

Senior Israeli officials have also reiterated in recent days that settlement construction would continue.

The Palestinian official said the expected prisoner release went a long way toward persuading Abbas to give negotiations another chance, even without Israel meeting his long-standing demands on the terms of such talks.

The two teams are to meet for the first time later Monday in Washington for discussions that will not deal with the fundamental issues of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but rather aim to lay the foundations for full-fledged peace talks later this year.

The U.S. State Department said they would try to establish a work plan for the broader negotiations, which are to last six to nine months.

Israel is represented by chief negotiator Tzipi Livni and Yitzhak Molcho, a veteran Netanyahu adviser. The Palestinian team consists of chief negotiator Saeb Erekat and Abbas aide Mohammed Shtayyeh.

The actual negotiations are to be held in the region.

Livni said before her departure for Washington that she is going to the talks "cautiously, but also with hope."

Hanan Ashrawi, a Palestinian spokeswoman, said the talks are being held under more difficult conditions than previous negotiations.

She cited the Palestinian political split, with Western-backed moderate Abbas and the Islamic militant Hamas running rival governments in the West Bank and Gaza, as well as the more hawkish positions of Netanyahu, compared to his predecessor.

"But I think there is a recognition of the urgency," she said. "If we don't move fast and decisively, things could fall apart."

Hamas, which seized Gaza from Abbas in 2007, has dismissed the new talks, and the militant movement's spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri on Monday rejected the notion that Abbas is representing the Palestinians at the talks.

Resuming negotiations "is a dangerous step and the only beneficiary is the occupation (Israel), which uses it as a cover for its continued crimes," Abu Zuhri said.

Hamas wants to establish an Islamic state in all of historic Palestine, including what is now Israel. Hamas has raised the possibility of long-term cease-fires under some circumstances, but has made clear it would not consider a partition deal to be the end of the Israeli-Arab conflict.

The expected resumption of talks comes after six months of shuttle diplomacy by Kerry, and Israel's agreement to release veteran prisoners was key to the secretary's success.

The Cabinet decision was welcomed by Palestinians and some drew angry reactions in Israel.

The fate of Palestinian prisoners is an emotional issue on both sides; Palestinians tend to view the prisoners as heroes who sacrificed for the struggle for statehood, while many Israelis seem them as cold-blooded killers.

The list of prisoners eligible for release includes those who killed or wounded Israelis or killed Palestinian informers.

"The murderers will be released," read the front-page headline in Israel's Yediot Ahronot daily Monday.

Netanyahu faced opposition in his Cabinet, though he pushed through Sunday's approval with a comfortable 13-7 vote, with two abstentions.

On the streets of Israel and the West Bank, hope mixed with skepticism.

"I believe it's time to give it (negotiations) a chance and to try again," said Tel Aviv resident Eliot Diamant. Another city resident, Eliezer Zaiger, said he believes negotiations won't benefit Israel.

That view was shared by Issam Baker in the West Bank city of Ramallah. He said little will change on the ground for Palestinians and that previous rounds of talks have not produced results.

You have a friend request from Santa Claus: How Facebook covered its site in gift wrap

If you want to know how a digital enterprise is faring in this fluxy world, try an experiment.

Don?t think about how visible a brand is, or how beloved of investors, or how exciting its management. Rather, ask your own darn self: Have you even thought about spending so much as one thin dime at that particular digital shop in the past month?

If the answer is yep, 11 cents or $1500 or $12.50, the company is humming along just fine. Or maybe even soaring, as Facebook suddenly was, shooting up 30% on Thursday, and dipping only negligibly on Friday.

?We were wrong,? admitted Richard Greenfield of BTIG Research, who?d been among those chanting sell-Facebook.

This isn?t exact science. Much of the rocket surge of Facebook stock is credited to an increase in spending on mobile ads, the Holy Grail for all tech companies these days. But it?s also clear, just from a glance at the News Feed, that Facebook doesn?t just want those Madison Avenue dollars: It wants yours, too.

Now, ask yourself: You didn?t spend any money at Facebook this quarter, did you? A little disbelief might inflect the question, which wouldn?t have even made sense a year ago. Facebook used to be a place where users ponied up information for access. Privacy and dignity, sure?but not money.

That?s changed. Many of our credit-card bills now reflect Gift payments to Facebook. ?Real moments. Real gifts,? says the slogan. ?Real money,? someone might add. This is not that kind of esoteric fortune-making that was promised in the IPO: dizzy initiatives involving awareness and advertising and partnerships. This is about the bell of a cash register, and the?get this?exchange of money for goods.

Cruise around on Facebook, reading airline complaints or bon mots involving Carlos Danger, and you now find yourself half at a checkout counter. Starbucks cards. iTunes cards. Philipp Keel calendars. Flowers. Into the cart they go, and then the birthday people are contacted; addresses are nefariously solicited; flowers and tunes and baked goods are bestowed.

And your muscle memory gets the point: Facebook is for shopping. The home page isn?t just plastered with display ads; it?s also dotted by little gift boxes tied with red bows. It?s a social network covered in wrapping paper.

Years ago, Amazon turned from being an online bookstore to a massive content site chocked, far fuller than any online magazine or channel, with reviews and lists and discussions and biographies and videos. You wheel around that galactic site, these days, doing makework ?research? into various items, and then you happen to merchandise that reading and research by buying a few chunks of expensive consumer electronics. No ads. All sales.

Once Facebook followed suit and started selling regular, tangible, marked-up, cheap-to-make stuff?trinkets and coffee and chocolate?right in the middle of things, it seemed clear the company had remembered how to make money, real money, now and forever. Sell stuff. And we?re all buying. Thirty percent seems only just reward as this elementary lesson dawns for Facebook and its users.

Porsche 911 Parade Sets New World Record at Silverstone Classics 2013

Porsche has broken the record of the world?s greatest supercar parade by assembling more than 1,200 Porsche 911s at the Silverstone circuit during this weekends Silverstone Classics. The parade was part of the ongoing celebrations for the Porsche 911?s 50th anniversary. Porsche announced earlier already that the event had been oversubscribed, originally aiming for 911 Porsche 911?s, a total of 1,208 Porsche 911s joined the parade.

Ferrari previously held the record for the largest parade of supercars at the Silverstone circuit. They set this record back in 2012 with 964 Ferraris, beating the Japanese record of a 490 Ferrari parade at the Fuji Speedway circuit. Porsche has managed to beat the 964 number with a flawless margin, the 911 included variants such as the Carrera, RS, RSR, GT, Speedster, Targa and Turbo.

Over 820,000 Porsche 911s have been built, making it the most successful sports car in the world. The 911 is the central point of reference for all other Porsche series. From the Cayenne to the Panamera, every Porsche is the most sporting automobile in its category, and each one carries a piece of the 911 philosophy. It has also excelled in racing with two thirds of Porsche?s 30,000 race victories to date notched up by the 911.

Mark Porsche, son of 911 designer Ferdinand ?Butzi? Porsche and great-grandson of the marque?s original founder, Ferdinand Porsche said;

Of course the 911 means a great deal to me as it?s my father?s big design and it will always have a special place in my heart. It?s a family member over all the generations of the 911 series and I?m very proud to be here today to represent the Porsche family at this great event. I think that to have these 1200 cars on track is the attention that the 911 deserves for its 50th birthday. I can?t thank the Porsche Club GB enough for making this event possible.
