York Suburban graduate Sada Stewart earned points in six events to help the Tigers beat Harvard by more than 100 points.
York, PA -Freshman Sada Stewart had a big meet for the Princeton women's swim team as the Tigers outlasted defending champion Harvard to capture their 21st Ivy League championship. Princeton, winner of 11 of the last 14 titles, finished with 1,474.5 points to beat Harvard by more than 100 points.
Stewart, a York Suburban graduate, finished second in both the 100 backstroke (53.53) and 200 backstroke (1:55.99) and third in the 200 IM (1:55.42). All three are NCAA Division I B cut times, and the 200 back mark broke the pool record.
In all, Stewart was credited with 127 points with her individual efforts and her work with three relay teams. The 800 free relay finished first in 7:12.64, the 400 free team was second (3:19.04) and the 400 medley relay was second (3:37.49).
"We are so proud of Sada and her performance last weekend," coach Susan Teeter said. "She is such a great competitor and I love that she always has a smile on her face and is ready to compete in any race asked of her."
"Sada had lifetime best swims in all three of her individual races," Teeter said. "And she was a key performer in our relays, as well, anchoring the 800 free for its come-from-behind victory and leading off on the record breaking 400 medley relay."

Record for Hutchinson and Co.
Senior Wendy Hutchinson (Dover) was a member of the La Salle 3,200 relay team that set a school record at last weekend's ECAC Division I championships in Boston. The team posted an 8:57.48 mark, breaking a record that stood for 11 years. The Explorers finished fourth in the event.
Hutchinson also ran the leadoff leg with the distance medley relay, which finished fifth in 11:43.50.
"Wendy had an outstanding weekend and ran a great anchor leg in the 4x800," coach Dan Ireland said.
The Explorers competed in the Atlantic-10 Championships the week before, where the 3,200 team finished fourth and Hutchinson finished ninth out of 24 runners in the mile (5:07.15).

NCAAs for Lantz
Pitt-Johnstown junior Gary Lantz (Kennard-Dale) finished fourth in the 174-pound weight class at the Super Region I wrestling tournament in Kutztown and earned a berth to this weekend's NCAA Division II Championships, scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Birmingham, Ala.
Lantz, who is ranked fifth in his weight class in Region I, has a 24-5 record. It will be his second straight trip to the NCAAs. He finished fourth in the Region I meet last year as well and posted a 20-7 record.

Another trip for Leonard
Moravian senior Micah Leonard (William Penn) will make her third trip to the NCAA Division III indoor championships, with this year's meet set for Friday and Saturday in Naperville, Ill.
Leonard is a four-time All-American including three times indoors. She finished fifth in the long jump as a freshman and seventh in the triple jump and eighth in the long jump as a sophomore. She missed the 2012 indoor meet because of injuries.
Leonard will compete in both the triple jump and long jump this weekend. She's ranked seventh in Division III in the triple jump (39-2 1/2) which is the Moravian and Landmark Conference record. She is not seeded in the long jump.

Plummer advances
Messiah junior Ricardo Plummer (York Suburban) earned a berth in the NCAA Division III wrestling championships after finishing second in the 165-pound weight class at the regionals last weekend at Ohio Northern in Ada, Ohio.
Plummer, seeded second entering the tournament, captured three straight decisions before dropping 6-1 decision to Sam Guidi of Waynesburg in the championship match.
Falcons sophomore Jake English (Central York) settled for sixth place in the 157-pound class at regionals. He lost in the second round and then won two straight before dropping the fifth-place match, 6-1, to Josh Etzel of Washington & Jefferson.
The top four from each region will compete in the NCAA championships March 15-16 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Derr wraps it up ?
Senior Daulton Derr (Eastern York) saw his season and career come to an end when his Delaware Valley men's basketball team lost in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament.
The 6-foot-4 forward had 10 points and three rebounds in that game, a 76-61 loss to Virginia Wesleyan. Derr finished the season second on the team in scoring (13.5) and averaged 4.7 rebounds. He also had 26 assists, 22 steals and 14 blocked shots. He was a standout from 3-point range, hitting 40-of-110 (.364).
The Aggies finished 19-9 and earned the NCAA berth by beating DeSales, 77-72, in the Freedom Conference title game. Derr had 19 points and 15 rebounds in a 65-49 semifinal victory against Misericordia.

Adams helps Tar Heels
Sophomore Harry Adams (Central York) is a member of the North Carolina men's fencing team. Competing in the foil, he finished 23rd in the NCAA regionals last year as a freshman.
This year's regionals will be held this weekend in Easton. Adams and the Tar Heels prepped for the event by competing in the United States Collegiate Squad Championships in Columbus, Ohio. Adam's and his foil mates finished sixth in the final standings.
